Visiting Window Coverings with Fabrics and Materials

The Maids Medway • Oct 31, 2013

Fabrics in actuality are one of several items used every day that would not exist without fibers or materials. Both terms get used a lot when it comes to curtain shopping and this can often be confusing. In conclusion, a fabric is known as the ending results of spinning and weaving materials together. A shirt is made from a fabric, whether it was woven with just cotton or both cotton and polyester. Curtains are the same in that aspect. To put things into perspective, a fabric can be made from just about any material or fibers and products like curtains can be described based on either one.

A fabric can be named based on materials used or even based on the design. This often cause confusion, but is easier to understand if you work with fabrics regularly. Chenille fabric comes from materials like acrylic, cotton, or olefin. In addition, satin fabric comes from silk, nylon, or both. On the design side of things, damask is composed of cotton and identified by small raised dots on one side of the fabric.

Materials in a fabric that are bright colored can add a beautiful, elegant touch to the fabric, but are more susceptible to fading. Duller colors within a fabric may not look as spectacular as brighter ones, but they won't fade as quickly or as easy. If you enjoy switching out your curtains periodically, brighter colors may be o.k. for you.

Each and every single curtain carries various properties, such as the strength level, durability level, design, appearance, and even style. Each room often looks magnificent because of your dedicated house cleaning efforts, yet the curtains can take away from that appeal if not the right theme, style, or condition. An education on materials and fabrics provides the power to get the right match for you and your rooms.
