Creating a Laundry Room You’ll Love

The Maids Medway • Jun 28, 2013

Chances are, when you think about your laundry room, your first thought isn’t about how great the space is. In fact, for most people, the first thought is about house cleaning and washing clothes, and that’s not usually a positive thought.

However, you can make the laundry room a better place to be by organizing the things you have there and giving it a makeover. It won’t make the laundry any easier, but it will put you in a better mood. Here’s some tips for making your laundry room great:

1. Hide everything. Visual clutter can cause a feeling of being overwhelmed and even stressed out or tired. Remove the visual clutter by hiding all of your laundry accessories. If you have cabinets, store your laundry detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheets there.

If you don’t have cabinets, you’ll have to get a little more creative. Try baskets, drawers, or shelves with curtains to get those things out of sight.

2. Decorate for yourself. You don’t likely have a lot of people coming in and out of your laundry room, so you might be tempted not to decorate it at all. Having a beautiful laundry room that’s visually appealing can make being there less of a chore, and you deserve to have a space you enjoy.

You don’t have to do too much to make an impact, so try these things:

  • Add curtains to any windows.
  • Hang pictures or art on blank walls.
  • Add colors through paint on the walls or the cabinets.

Ultimately, this space is for you, so make it the way you want it!

3. Use stations. Sometimes a laundry room is more of a stop-and-go kind of place, but for others, the laundry room sees a lot of work. If you do most of your laundry in your laundry room, you would likely benefit from creating work stations.

Create one area for washing and drying, another for folding, and another for ironing. This will help you feel more in control of the tasks you’re working on.

Laundry doesn't have to be terrible, and a great laundry room goes a long way in making it better!
